Questions people ask
Frequently asked
questions
Do I need a permit for a pool cage in Naples?
Yes. Any new aluminum screen enclosure or structural replacement in Collier County (and in Lee County for Bonita Springs, Estero and Fort Myers) requires a building permit with engineered drawings. Rescreening and like-for-like repairs generally do not. We pull the permit as part of every new build.
Should I replace my pool cage or refurbish it?
If the frame is structurally sound, a refurbish (rescreen, repaint, new hardware and doors) is the better value. If posts are corroded through, footers have shifted, or the cage pre-dates the current wind code and you want it built to last, a replacement makes more sense. We'll inspect it and quote both.
How long does a new pool cage take?
Once the Collier or Lee County permit is issued, most residential pool cages are typically built in three to seven working days. Permitting itself usually takes two to four weeks depending on the jurisdiction and whether engineering is required. We handle the drawings, submission and inspection.
Which screen is best for a Naples pool cage?
Standard 18/14 fiberglass mesh is the most economical. No-See-Um (20/20) keeps out the tiny biting midges common near the mangroves and preserves. Super Screen is a heavier polyester mesh that resists tears, pets and UV far longer. Picture-window panels give an open view without vertical bars. We carry all of them and will show you samples.
